Hello and welcome to STRONG&CALM
At STRONG&CALM we live, breath and love Mat Pilates. We are the only
Pilates based studio in the Lower Mainland that specializes in Mat Pilates and offers a complete 60hr Mat Pilates Teacher Training Program as well as opportunities for teacher development. In order to maintain our high quality, client-focused approach, all of our teachers have graduated from our training program and continue to expand on their skill set and knowledge of movement, mindfulness practices and biomechanics in an on-going basis. The following information is posted as a bit of extra support for anyone who is new to STRONG&CALM, Mat Pilates and Strength Training. If you have questions about our offerings or would like to touch base before attending a class, please feel welcome to contact us at info@strongandcalmpilates.com
A few things to help prepare you for class
We take an active approach to Mat Pilates, which means that our classes will definitely feel like a workout. Although our classes have a level of intensity, we do move slow, we focus on breathing and we always encourage you to go at your own pace.

If you are new to Mat Pilates, we recommend that you begin with any of our STRONG&CALM Signature Series classes. This class is a set series which will introduce you to many of the foundational concepts and exercises of Mat Pilates and allow you to see improvements in your strength and mobility over the course of a few consistent weeks. Our STRENGTH classes are our more difficult classes on the schedule and are a hybrid between heavier weights and Mat Pilates. All of our classes are available to new clients and are included in your trial pass.

If you are recovering from an injury or surgery (including c-section and birth), please wait until you have clearance from your physio/doctor before attending and have a good amount of pain free range of motion throughout all of your joints, including the spine. Our Pilates are a "fitness-based" offering and should not be considered a therapeutic replacement for proper assessment and care from a medical professional.

If you are pregnant, we do not recommend starting Pilates if it hasn't been a regular practice for you leading up to pregnancy. We allow clients to attend our classes up to 14 weeks in their pregnancy.

It is recommended that you leave at least a day between your scheduled classes to allow for the body to recover adequately.

The studio opens 15 minutes prior to each class. If it is your first class, please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes beforehand to give yourself some time to meet the instructor and settle in. No latecomers will be permitted to attend class.

All of your booking and payment is done through the Momence App. Please download the app to book, cancel and pay for any of our passes. All class bookings must be completed before attending your preferred class.

Please read our studio policies and refund policy before purchasing a trial pass and attending class.

We have mats and all of your equipment/props at no extra charge. You are welcome to bring your own mat if you wish.
